The industry feels that the same smartphone design (candybar) is currently stagnant and they want to use a refresh by rotating. Surely we looked at phones with 2 screens and could turn around in the early 2000s on some feature phones, but LG is redefining how and what you can do with a second screen.

The LG Explorer Project is an initiative that aims to breathe new life into smartphone design. It's about taking risks and introducing instant innovation to customers and Wing is just the beginning. LG also said it wanted to partner with various brands including Qualcomm, the Naver search engine and the Tubi and Ficto streaming platforms to use its new design.

The LG Wing comes with a curved 6.8-inch P-OLED main screen with FHD + resolution and an aspect ratio of 20.5: 9. The 32MP selfie camera uses a pop-up mechanism. The secondary display is a 3.9-inch G-OLED with FHD + resolution and an aspect ratio of 1.15: 1.

As you can imagine, there is no formal IP rating, but the screen is equipped with a waterproof array.

The big problem with Wing is that you can use it like a normal phone if you want, but once you raise the main screen horizontally, you get a new shape for its unique different usage problems.

LG is betting big on consuming content as well as targeting Wing at users who like to watch videos on the go. Thanks to the second screen, users don't want to have screen problems when they receive notifications and get a more immersive viewing experience.

Users can also edit live video after recording it directly on the second screen or use GPS navigation while managing calls on a smaller screen. The swivel design comes with a double lock mechanism as well as a hydraulic damper that absorbs shocks.

LG claims the Wing will last up to 200,000 rounds. LG has also succeeded in obtaining a size close to that of a regular smartphone at 169.5 x 74.5 x 10.9mm. This phone weighs 260 grams. Other specifications include a 64MP main camera, a special 12MP ultrawide camera for rotary mode and other 13MP ultrawide. There is a fashion gimbal with a virtual joystick on the second screen.

This wing phone is powered by Snapdragon 765G which is paired with 8GB RAM as well as 128 / 256GB storage. The battery is 4,000mAh and there's also wireless charging support on board.

LG did not say details on pricing but Wing will first arrive in the US via Verizon, accompanied by AT&T and T-Mobile. There is no coincide on launch of course, LG would like to say in further details.
